On 23 September Ryde Toyota hosted the West Ryde Chamber get together. Ryde Toyota was founded in 1974 by Graeme Tompkins and a couple of mates. The business has stayed in family hands with Graeme’s son, David, now controlling the show. Two original employees, Barry Hardy and Peter Martin are now co owners and Barry has recently retired. This does not mean things come to a stop or that Ryde Toyota’s customer focus is lost, to the contrary we know the dealership’s reputation for personal care has been forged over the years and we concentrate on training our staff to listen to customers and help them throughout the vehicle ownership experience.

This old world approach is not lost in this rapidly changing environment. Like never before Ryde Toyota is preparing and responding to the changes in the market, marketing and the technical developments in vehicle production. No other car manufacturer is investing more in the production of environmentally sustainable vehicle that Toyota. No other car manufacturer is investing more in their retail partners than Toyota. We (Toyota and Ryde Toyota) have just released the third generation of Prius. This vehicle is the most environmentally advanced car in production today. Diesel technology continues for the large vehicle market but in the passenger segment nothing is better than Toyota’s development of Hybrid (Battery and Petrol) powered vehicles. Toyota are also working towards a Hydrogen Cell powered vehicle that is already in use in the prototype stage in big companies in big markets around the world.

The September get together was an informal look at the Gen 3 Toyota Prius where Ryde Toyota’s Fleet Development Manager, Rabih Daye, explained some of the features and technologies behind the car and take appointments for test drives.
